A celebration that should be broad and inclusive, focused on promoting unity among all Americans, is being turned into a one-man show. The United States and its founding ideals should not be overshadowed by a fragile ego that craves constant attention for validation.

Aside from the billionaires, I still ask: What positive changes has Trump’s war in Iran brought about for the people? Yes, some of the top leaders of the Iranian regime were killed, but their replacements now enjoy a privileged position they did not have before. Meanwhile, the Iranian people, whom Trump encouraged to rise up against the regime he is now making a deal with, have paid the price with more death and repression.
