Under Trump, the United States has lost much of its international respect. Who would have thought that Trump’s “neighborhood tough guy” strategy would backfire so badly? The thing is, when your biggest rivals are very happy with your performance, it’s not because they respect you—it’s because they see you as their useful puppet. Worst of all, having failed to outdo the big players, we’ve seen how Trump, like any bully, wants to pick on the little guys again—out of spite, and for the sheer pleasure of it.
